reflection at dawn

Sunrise reflecting off the front door illuminated the living room this morning. The sun was high enough in the sky to shine through the kitchen window and bounce off the glass in the door, creating an orange glow that filled every part of the room.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcomeĀ it. (John 1:5)

Cover reveal for new book!

I’m so excited to share the cover of my new book, Our Lady of Charity: How a Cuban Devotion to Mary Helped Me Grow in Faith and Love.

I had the pleasure of speaking about this book and especially the story of Our Lady of Charity this past weekend at the Mobile Called to Love Women’s Conference. What a joy to share my love of the Blessed Mother and especially this devotion so dear to me.

The wonderful team at Ave Maria Press created a beautiful cover that captures a bit of the Caribbean feel in the background, and of course, an image of Our Lady of Charity with Jesus and the Three Juans front and center. I hope you’ll be drawn to read more about this title of the Blessed Virgin Mary!

You can pre-order directly from Ave Maria Press with this coupon code.

good morning!

sunrise

I never get tired of the sunrises around here although I don’t always race to get a picture of that miraculous moment when the horizon explodes in light. Instead, I might pause at the kitchen window while I make coffee and let that moment of awe be a prayer. Every day is a new day, and every day is a different experience.

My favorite part is watching the sun move up and down the horizon as the seasons change. This morning I realized the sun is now rising just south of our pier — it’s a static marker of the sun’s movement, and an aha moment when I make the realization.

This morning, I watched at the window, finished making the coffee, and then snapped this picture to share. Come back in six months and you’ll see the sunrise north of the pier!
