Isn’t it just a cold bird? We have huge blackbirds here during winter. They try to conserve heat by expanding their feathers.
I don’t know what kind of bird it is. It’s not like the birds we have here.
I guess, Inge, but it’s pretty unseasonally warm here. The bluebirds and cardinals don’t fluff up like that, and while robin’s are kinda chesty, not quite like this, either.

Looks fluffy to me, not fat. From what i’ve heard, a fat bird is a dead bird, predatorially speaking . . .
The Whatbird.com search engine tells me it could be a Least Flycatcher!

It is The CubanFatso bird!!–travels from Cuba to Miami, after a few weeks of Pan cubano , Pastelitos, Lechon and Flan– Travels to Georgia for the Winter.
During spring time returns to Cuba to mate.
