a vibrant pilgrimage

I had a delightful treat today. The best kind because it was unexpected and so appreciated.

I not only discovered a beautiful chapel, but happened upon it during a special period of exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. My participation in a parent education series at the church took me into a new parish in the middle of the morning. I wanted to attend Mass before leaving on an hour commute home, so I resigned myself to a long wait until the next one.

Instead, I settled into an unhurried hour of prayer and reflection in the St. Mary’s Chapel. I loved the vibrant colors of the stained glass window above the altar, the subdued light above the tabernacle, nestled behind a veil, and the soft light from the candles on the altar.

As I gazed upon the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, I noticed the statue of St. Joseph to the right, and the bright image of the Blessed Mother looking down on the scene. I was enveloped by the Holy Family!

WPC: Creepy not Creepy

creey

I took this creepy picture with my iphone 6 using no filters or HD settings. It was late at night and although there was a little moonlight, a storm was coming in and lightning ended up being the source of illumination.

I’m usually a big fan of storms, and this one brought in lots of thunder and lightning.

It looks super grainy to me, almost like’s a B&W newspaper clipping, but I like it. It’s mysterious.

Fresher than Fresh: A New Tulip

This week’s Daily Post photo challenge, fresh, comes just in time for spring. There’s a little bit of rain falling, just enough to get things a little misted, and it changes everything. The dull dustiness of early spring — there’s no real color yet — covers everything in pollen. A little rain freshens things up again. The grass is just starting to wake up, and while there are lots and lots of flowers blooming, leaves and leftover wintry shrubs still dot the landscape.

dandelionThe scent of spring, wet and fresh, fills my nostrils and transports me back to my childhood. The honeysuckle isn’t in bloom yet, but oh boy — soon. Soon!

I admit that my tastes, and my wallet, have matured a little and I can indulge myself in the beauty of tulips, but I have a confession to make ….

This is my favorite sign of spring.
